'Hygge' and space to unwind for everyone

Nooks to curl up in and enjoy a quiet moment and a book, communal spaces both indoors and outdoors to play and eat together as family and friends, sitting on the deck in the dark naming star constellations. Our holiday home, Sydhavshuset, provides the space we need to come together as family and friends as well as a retreat from our busy lives. With three bedrooms, two mezzanines (popular with children and teenagers) and two bathrooms, we have space for (almost) everyone.

No smoking, but dogs allowed.

Nature plot

Inspired by the ‘Vild med Vilje’ (Wild on Purpose) movement we are nurturing Sydhavshuset's garden as a wild space to support biodiversity and local wildlife, which we love enjoying while at the holiday home. For this reason, the grass is not cut or mowed regularly, and it might look somewhat ‘dishevelled’. For the same reason the garden is not completely fenced in to allow local wildlife, and in particular deer to graze on the plot.

What you’ll do

Relax, recharge and enjoy yourselves. We have a swing set and sandpit for the little ones to entertain themselves in the garden as well as an outdoor grill. For rainy days or family fun in the evening we have a variety of games and puzzles available as well as TV with Netflix, and blankets to snuggle up together and 'hygge' together. It’s a short walk to Gedesby beach, and you can learn more about other nearby beaches. We are also only a drive away from a wide variety of nearby attractions.

What you should bring

Always the holiday basics, sunscreen, towel, swimsuit etc. While we provide duvets and pillows, we don’t provide bedsheets and covers. These are available for rent through Dancenter as a linen package, or if you've got the space you can bring your own. For families with young children you can also rent a baby’s highchair and crib/toddler bed through Dancentre. If you’re bringing a dog, bring your own dog bed and food bowls.

Please note:

The photos may not portray the house exactly as it is when you arrive as things are often moved around, redecorated and some of the items in the photos are the things that we ourselves bring along on holiday and they might not remain in the house.

Also, this is a private family retreat which we make available for rent when we're not on holiday, so please respect our belongings and return things to their place before you leave.
