In Denmark, waste must be sorted before it is thrown away. Under the kitchen sink there is a rack for bags for residual waste and a green bin for food waste. We are trying to find a smarter method for indoor waste sorting. So far, we ourselves regularly go out with plastic, drink cartons, glass, metal and paper in the containers at the entrance. A sorting guide in English can be found here. If you have an extraordinary amount of stuff to get rid of, you can drive to the recycling drop-off location in Marielyst. For more information (in Danish), see the page about Marielyst Genbrugsplads.
The container is divided in two. Food waste must be collected in a bag and a knot must be tied on the bag. Then place it in the part of the container for food waste marked with the food symbol.
