A family holiday home near the beach in Gedesby
Sydhavshuset is our family holiday home in Gedesby, Denmark, close to the beach near the southern tip of the Danish South Sea island of Falster. It is a place to slow down, enjoy nature, and spend time together with family and friends.
Here, the pace is gentler. Put the phone away, put the kettle on, and bring out the board games. In autumn and winter, light the wood-burning stove after a walk in the forest. The beach is around a 15 to 20 minute walk away, on the same long sandy coastline that continues north towards Marielyst, and the area offers open skies, peaceful surroundings, and memorable experiences for both adults and children.

A house for relaxing, exploring, and spending time together
The house is a spacious wooden holiday home with room for up to 8 guests. With three bedrooms, two mezzanines, two bathrooms, and a large open living area, there is space for both togetherness and quiet moments. There are cosy corners for reading, games, and relaxed evenings, while outside, the large terrace and natural garden create a calm, informal setting for outdoor life.
In summer, the beach is a wonderful place for swimming, long days by the sea, and enjoying the wide sandy coastline. In autumn, winter, and spring, the coast and surrounding countryside are ideal for long walks, quiet days outdoors, and a slower pace of life. At those times of year, you may also be lucky enough to find amber or fossils along the shore.
A place with family history
This house means a great deal to our family. Our grandmother helped design it, and our grandfather built it in 2006. Our roots in Gedesby go back generations, and we hope Sydhavshuset will become a place where you create happy memories of your own.
